The multiple award-winning Indian drama film ‘Mukti Bhawan’/’Hotel Salvation’ distributed by Cinestaan lnternational Sales (CIS) has been sold in over 30 lnternational territories including the UK, lreland, USA, Canada, Germany, Middle East, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, France, Spain, South Africa, Portugal, South Korea, ltaly among athers.
In a recent move, Astro has acquired rights for the film in 12 South-East Asian territories including Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, The Philippines and Indonesia.
Commenting on the deal, Paul Hudson, Director, Cinestaan International Sales said “Good films always find an audience, and that’s just what happened with Hotel Salvaticn, and we couldn’t be happier with the sale to Astro.”
“We are extremely delighted with this development. It’s a dream come true to see our little gem finding distributor in every part of the world,” says the film’s producer Sanjay Bhutiani on the Astro deal.
Written and directed by Shubhashish Bhutiani, ‘Hotel Salvation’ follows a son faced with his father’s untimeiy demand to go and die in the holy city of Varanasi and attain salvation.
The film starring Adil Hussain (Life of Pi), Lalit Behl (Titli), Geetanjali Kulkarni (Court), and Palomi Ghosh and has won 25 internationai awards, including the Grand Prix Enrico Fulchignoni and the UNESCO Gandhi Medal during its premiere at Venice.
The critics have raved about the film which garnered 4 and 5 star reviews in the UK media. Asian Culture Vulture said ‘Gentle, unassuming, funny & poignant,’Hotel Salvation’ is a small gem of a film in many ways, while Empire rated it 4 stars saying, ‘A simple story beautifully told’.
